If you call yourself a World War II buff, it’s a pretty safe bet you know who Damian Lewis is: the actor who played Dick Winters (13 things you didn't know about Dick Winters) in the popular HBO miniseries Band of Brothers. If you’re a fan, you’ll be excited to hear Lewis will be returning to World War II in Pressure, an upcoming war drama about the meteorological decision to launch the D-Day landings on June 6, 1944.

Lewis, who is actually a British actor, will be taking on the mantle of a prominent British general: Bernard Law Montgomery (Montgomery – Part I), who was in charge of all Allied ground forces during Operation Overlord

The film’s protagonist is James Martin Stagg, the meteorological advisor to Supreme Allied Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Forces, General Eisenhower (The Supreme Commander – Part I), played by Brendan Fraser. Stagg’s job and responsibility is to use data gathered on North Atlantic weather patterns (The Weather War) to advise about the optimal time to launch Operation Overlord – but the wrong choice could lead to the failure of the Normandy landings and the death of thousands. Band of Brothers fans will be delighted to learn that Stagg is also played by a former Band of Brothers alumnus: British actor Andrew Scott, who played Private John D. Halls (incorrectly named “Hall” in the series), who stepped on a booby trap and died during the assault on Brécourt Manor. (Dick Winters’s First Battle)
