Long time renovation to come

In light of the recent arson attack on the ‘Eagle’s Nest,’ Adolf Hitler’s infamous mountaintop retreat at Obersalzberg, we would like to inform you how this will affect our tours in the future. We were shocked by the barbaric act of setting the historic Kehlsteinhaus on fire and hope that it will be renovated in due time and will serve again as a memento to the atrocities committed by the Nazi regime. We are following closely the updates provided by the Bavarian authorities. According to the Minister for Interior of Bavaria, the house will be rebuilt in the future with the involvement of historians and other experts. Because of the upcoming snow season and the serious damage suffered by the building, we understand that the renovation may take considerable time.

Hitler’s massive bunker system

During the renovation period we will offer an alternative itinerary to our Passengers, which will explore further iconic sites of the former Führersperrgebiet, the special off-limits area where Adolf Hitler, beside Berlin, led the Third Reich surrounded by his closest followers and met foreign delegations. The trip will include the town of Berchtesgaden and the scenic lake Königssee, plus the Dokumentation Obersalzberg. The latter museum showcases the remnants of Hitler’s massive underground bunker system and the sites where he made his decisions that influenced the fate of the world and showed the real face of national socialism. This will also show that actually most of his decisions were made here and at the nearby Berghof, the real ‘Eagle’s Nest,' while he visited the recently destroyed Kehlsteinhaus only a handful of times due to his fear of heights and distrust towards the sole elevator taking guests up to the guesthouse.
